Many operations can now be done laparoscopically (key hole surgery). They include simple operations such as laparoscopic sterilization or for the removal of ovarian cysts. However it is now possible to perform very complex procedures such as those used in the management of endometriosis and for women requiring laparoscopic hysterectomy (removal of the womb).Our techniques are continually being refined and improved through the research and development program in which our unit is involved. This allows us to keep up to date and be on the cutting edge with the latest procedures whilst promoting safety and excellence in surgery.

Established in the year 2000, Sydney West Advanced Pelvic Surgery unit or SWAPS is comprised of gynaecological specialists with expertise in hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures. Our Gynaecologists are situated in Western Sydney and treat well over 1500 patients per year.
